Dean, GCUWe are delighted to announce Dorothy Quann as the first Dean of our GCU. Dorothy is an experienced senior executive and general counsel, and a strong advocate for inclusiveness in the workplace and the advancement of women in the legal profession. Currently, she is a Director of WGCC, and Chair of the Law & Business Advisory Council at Ryerson University TRSM. She was past President of Legal Leaders for Diversity. Dorothy received the General Counsel Award from Women's Law Association of Ontario, recognizing her commitment to the success of women in law. She also received the Lexpert Zenith Award which celebrates leading women lawyers. Dorothy was also the recipient of the World of Difference Award by the International Alliance for Women which recognizes women from around the world who have contributed to the advancement of women in business. Dorothy is a member of the Board of Credit Canada Debt Solutions, formerly a Director of the Cancer Research Society and a member of Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant Review team. Immediately before retiring from practice, Dorothy was the Vice-President, General Counsel and Secretary of Xerox Canada, and manager of its Privacy and Ethics Offices. She has also been Executive-in-Residence and Assessor for the CCCA/ Rotman Commerce, Certified In-House Counsel Business Leadership Program, and a member of the Advisory Panel at the UoT Global Professional Master of Law program. She was a member of the Selection Committee of the Honour Society of the uOttawa Common Law Faculty, and a juror of the Canadian Lawyer In-House Innovation Awards and the Awards Committee of the Ontario Bar Association. Dorothy is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and formerly a member of the Law Society of England & Wales. She holds a B.A. Honours and LLB from the uOttawa. She also holds a certificate in Adjudication for Administrative Agencies, Boards & Tribunals from Osgoode Hall Law School. She attended the Ivey Executive Program at Western University and the Centre for Creative Leadership in North Carolina.
